Production Plus
Production + Fresh Cow Protocol
New research shows why fresh cows deserve a second look!
Freshening is second only to the dry period in the rate of new intramammary infections (IMI)
A recent study showed that intramammary antibiotic therapy at freshening may reduce the incidence of mastitis throughout lactation
Identifying and treating IMI at freshening can increase the cure rate, and reduce somatic cell count (SCC) for higher milk quality and production
Improve milk quality and production, starting ToDAY® (cephapirin sodium)
Test all quarters for signs of subclinical mastitis 12-24 hours after calving
Use proper hygiene and Opti-Sert® partial insertion technique
Follow label directions and repeat treatment to positive quarters once in 12 hours
Monitor treated quarters and discard milk for 96 hours
Test cows for residue before returning milk to tank
Monitor for new infections, and treat as needed with ToDAY/Cefa-Lak
